En entrevista para MTV, Mark Hoppus ha dicho que ya tiene 3 o 4 temas lsitos y que están repasando muchos momentos de su carrera en ésto: “I wouldn’t say it’s a dark record; I think it’s really an expansive record. There’s stuff that sounds like what we were doing on the last Blink record, and there’s stuff that sounds like what we were doing ten years ago and stuff that we’ve never done before.” Que igualmente se han inspirado de muchos eventos que han pasado hace tiempo como el accidente que tuvo Travis Barker en 2008 en donde casi muere: “We’ve gone through a lot of really heavy stuff over the past few years. There’s plenty of heavy stuff to write about. I think in moments it will [be dark].”
